John Weatherson, emergency coordinator for agriculture and food production in Swaziland, in his office in Mbabane. Note the clippings on the board behind John regarding farmers and the OVC, orphans and vulnerable children. In a population of one million people, over 500,000 are under the age of 16. AIDS has devastated the adult population, the infrastructure of the country. There are 785 Orphan Points in the country where there are from 50-150 double orphans (both parents deceased). The Walter Project is the result of intervening in one such orphan point. John works with me in carrying through the plan we first began when we met in August 2005 toward the end of my first trip to Swaziland. |

This little fellow followed me all day calling for GoGo (grandma) whenever I got a few feet away. He is new to the group and feels very lost. |
Kids checking out the school under construction now in late August 2006. They will soon be students in this school. |
